This Summer Poem invites us to embrace the warmth
and vibrant energy of life, to step forward with renewed courage,
while remembering to balance an active life
with moments of rest, shade, and cooling stillness.
„Untamed passion, Agni1, flared high,
Mother Earth turned to her Yang2 side.
We seek light and airy clothes to wear,
and fully enjoy the summer breeze in the air.
Cosmic pulse flows through every vein,
gladly fulfilling wishes we contain.
Through Sheetali and Shetkali’s cooling Pranayama3,
each new challenge we face with steady dharma4.
Yet even in summer, balance is key,
let’s not give up any refreshing spree.
With a long run, into the deep sea we dive,
embracing the blessings that keep us alive.“

Notes
1 Agni - Agni means ‘fire’ in Sanskrit (अग्नि).
2 Yang - Yang is the other half of the energy and meaning represented by the yin and yang symbol. Yin and yang are two concepts in Chinese philosophy that express opposing yet complementary energies. Yang represents bright, lively, active, and masculine energy.
3 Sheetali & Shetkali Pranayama - Sheetali & Shetkali Pranayama are two breathing exercises (pranayamas) originating from yoga. They are best practiced during warmer months due to their cooling effects. However, they are not recommended for people with low blood pressure or respiratory problems.
4 Dharma - Dharma reveals an individual’s path of righteousness, guiding their unique moral responsibilities and the sacred duties of the soul.
Just as people once followed the turning seasons to learn the stories of time, you can now immerse yourself in this poem. May this poem spark enthusiasm and inspire a deeper connection with the magical cycles of nature.
